Today is the day. The day that all of our work has lead to. Today is the tournament - our first tournament of the year and, for the Starcatchers, the first VEX competition. For Sarah and Amelia (and Vexie) its the first robotics tournament ever! We’ve taken our time and we’ve rushed through things; we’ve hit what feels like every bump in the road imaginable, and we’ve had to start over on certain thing more than once. But we’re here, and that’s what matters right now. Because yes, its about the journey not the destination, but we are still on the journey, and this competition is just a road stop and we’ll be on our way again soon. Mr. G, our mentor, encouraged us to remember that while we all have our own letters and teams, we are also one team - 12 - and one school - Potomac. He encouraged us to remember that while we host this competition, while we play our sports, everywhere we go we are representing our school and it’s values. After this competition we can already see many more setbacks that we will have to face, but today is the day our robot walks on its own.
