Welcome to the 2016-17 Vex Robotics Season! We are the Starcatchers, an all girls, Potomac School robotics team. Our names are Kelsey, Amelia, Harper, Sarah, and our robot is Vexie. You can learn more about each of us and our robotics history on the "Meet the Team" page. We began our high school robotics journey in the Spring of 2016, when we were still 8th graders and learning the ropes of high school. We began truly designing and building our robot throughout the summer that followed. Kelsey and Harper spent their Intermediate School years (7th and 8th grade) competing in VEX IQ, a robotics program designed to be a building block for the more complicated VEX. When the 2015-16 VEX IQ season ended, Amelia took an interest in robotics, and joined the Starcatchers eagerly. Early into the Summer, Sarah also saw the opportunity and gave robotics a chance, later to excitedly join as well. By the end of June, the team was complete, and the first challenge we would face was making our fifth member, Vexie, competition ready by the end of the summer. To learn more about our summer process, you can read our "Preparing in the Summer" blog post. We can't wait to showcase our techniques, strategies, and teamwork skills throughout the next 4 years of thrilling high school robotics!
